WHY IS INDIA A HOT TOPIC FOR SEARCHERS ON WIKIPEDIA?

A study by Pew Research Centre showed Bollywood trouncing even the Oscars if you go by page views of English articles on Wikipedia in 2015. India was listed among the most edited articles in Wikipedia, an online encyclopedia in 15 years of its existence. The reason for India's popularity is yet to be discovered but it stands proudly as one of the most researched topics on Wikipedia.
