Being a girl in India is not an easy task. Being a Delhiite is even more difficult. There is a certain stereotype attributed to Delhi when it comes to women here, and we Delhiites make sure to live upto that stereotype.

1. TRAVELING IN THE ODD HOURS IS NEVER EASY With such large distances in Delhi, commuting is already a problem, travelling in odd timings for girls can be quite a task. Nonetheless, Delhi is already famous for its inadequacy to provide safety to women.

2. BEING TORN BETWEEN THE RICH, SPOILT BRAT AND THE TYPICAL SAROJINI GIRL There are two kinds of girls in Delhi, says everyone. First, the rich kids, second the Sarojini girls. But not everyone fits in these categories, do they? When will everyone stop judging us Delhi girls by the image they have created about us in their minds?

3. DUDE, WILL YOU STOP STARING? Not just the odd hours, even during the day, eve-teasing is a very common thing here. And NO! The clothes cannot be blamed here. Fully clad girls are teased too!

4. Metro? Need a seat? Dream on!
There is only one women’s coach in the metro. Do you really expect to accommodate all the female travelers in that one little coach? Or do you want us to enter the general coach and risk being objectified by men repeatedly?

5. THE HUMDRUM OF A FAST PACED LIFE Being the capital, being the metro city that Delhi is, life here is fast-paced and tiresome. Everyday is a race. Leaving us with little or no time to ourselves.
